Cabo got some more riding time in today! I didn't want to work him too hard, so i figured we'd begin re-learning how to soften to bit pressure. So we did a lot of standing still, and some walking. Then circles- and thats when he got nervous. bit pressure + bend on circle= OH MY! LOL, I just had to laugh at the bugger. He soon figured out that no one was going to eat him while on the circle. Still hard work, and he was sweaty by the time we were finished. I dont think it'll take much to help him figure this out.

Well well well, we have the beginnings of the a real half-halt!
I'm not big into putting horses into a frame. Asking for the head down without power from the hind is really stupid and backwards and ugly, and yet I see it so much because all people care about is that their horse's head is down. So while it may take longer, i like to make sure we've got happy forward first, and then collecting the forward energy and cycling it back.
And I am proud to say that Sir Cabo has the beginnings of such cycling. We have forward. we need more consistent rhythm. but when we get that, i have been asking for a half halt and voila, I got a baby one. But it was real and it was great!
Go Cabo!
