Cabo is so funny- i havent played with him for about 2 weeks now. Every few days i was bringing him and Cassie in the arena for some mutual "circus" free longeing. 2 birds with one stone and all that.
So today the weather was awful, our trail ride idea was quickly outsed, LOL. Who the heck wants to ride in that? Not me!
So i tacked up my little morgan friend, and we took a walk in the arena. I've been doing a lot of off- horse stretching because my left hip/leg has been giving me major problems. It has always been a little off- but lately it is really bad. So i've been trying to stretch it as much as possible, my goal is to straighten my body so my left leg isn't pulled into a chair seat.
Today i was able to just dink around with cabo, no stirrups, to let my leg hang and stretch that way. it really is the best therapy- there is no off-horse stretch i've found that stretches the leg the way you can in the saddle.
Cabo was happy to just bum around. And thankfully, my leg was nicely stretched and felt so much better after 10 minutes of following the rhythm of his body at the walk.
Its funny- sometimes i feel selfish and silly having a horse like Cabo. He's so much fun, and so very nice. He is a great reminder horse- you know, the kind that are so broke and nice they are able to remind you what a nice broke horse feels like, as opposed to the greenies out there. But I really don't *need* a riding horse like him- i'm sure someone out there could benefit from his knowledge and skill.
However, I'm a Cabo-hoarder, and he's all mine. LOL. I think i'm going to start taking dressage lessons with him and maybe try to enter some schooling shows next year. wouldn't it be cool to see him doing that stuff?
