LOL So I've taken an "exercise 2 horses at once" approach to life these days. It usually starts like this: I let both Cassie and Cabo into the arena together. I do this because in the winter, they are in 15X50 ft individual gravel runs all day. So while they move around (and I know they do because they poop in the back and stand near the front, and I also see flattened gravel where they nap), it isn't much. I want them to stretch their legs at least every other day. So when they get into the arena, you'd think they'd be full of pent up energy. Not so much. They roll. They get up. They stand there.
The other horses get in the arena and go bonkers. Not mine. So lazy and boring.
So if they are not going to buck fart play on their own, well then, I'm going to make them move around. And you know that means that it'll be actual work and no fun at all.
Yesterday I had some time on my side, so after their regular pony-circus warm up, I decided to lay ground poles in 3 spots in the arena. 2 poles long in the middle of the longside, on either side, and 2 poles long in the middle of one short side.
And so, I asked them to go over those. Cassie went first- the ever curious and courageous one. Cabo looked at me with the "do I have to?" look, and I cracked the whip. YES! LOL
And so they went. After walking over them for a circuit, I asked them to trot. Oh My God, they are so lazy! LOL Well, let me rephrase= CABO is so lazy. Cassie just plods along, looking at me from time to time to see if what she's doing is good, and then goes back to her job. Cabo I have to push. And push. And push. And push some more.
LOL you should see the 2 of them working together. For every of Cassie's one stride, Cabo takes like 4. Ok, so maybe it is more work for the pony. But the fat boy needs it. Cassie gets irritated with Cabo. And Cabo just wants to not do anything.
