You would think that with Cassie away, I'd have TONS of time to be working with Cabo. Turns out not so much.
So yesterday was the first day i was able to work with him 1:1 in a long time. So, i spent a lot of time grooming thus getting myself covered with hair.
From there we went to the arena, and free longed a bit. he seemd a little lazy. I tacked him up, and hopped on. I actually had to drive the bugger forward. he just wanted to plod around. The suspicious part of me is wondering if he's not feeling ok- because normally i just have to move with him. Since when did he become an old plug?
I'm going to ride him again today- lets see if he's got any more or less pep in his step.

Yesterday he was a little ploddish, but had more "excitement"- even just free longeing. I also tried Cassie's Fat Appy Saddle on him, which surprisingly fit- i think better than his saddle. So i rode in that, and he was good- ploddish under saddle, pushing him onto the bit, asking him to work a little- that is when the plodding happens, LOL. Ahh my buddy man doesn't want to work. After riding, i took him out to graze a little while the remaining daylight slipped away- he seemed pretty content with himself.

Day 3- today Cabo did not want to work- he wanted to stay right next to Cassie. As part of his agenda, he decided to challenge this whole "on the bit" stuff...hehehe which means Mr Farty had way more work to do than he would've. Result? Sweaty mess.
To cool him off, I took him for a spin outdoors. We dont have a real riding area outside- but there is a nice size paddock thing in the front- with a nice slight incline. It needs to be mowed, and then we need to stomp down a track. Anyway, since it has been so dry, i decided to take Cabo out there to see how squishy it'd be under his hooves. Not too bad!
LOL but what i didn't account for was his broom like tail, that happened to collect all the tall reeds/grasses that we passed by. Poor kid had highlights by the time we were done ;D
